Yeah. I’m experiencing one of those times. And it hurts. It hurts to first accept that I’ve experienced a loss, and second, to go through the grieving process – a process which though can feel quite isolating is ironically completely normal, healthy, and necessary.
Yesterday when I was sitting in on morning devotion time at a women’s shelter I volunteer at occasionally, the topic happened to be all about this. They were reading from a book called Trusting God – and I wish I had had a paper and pen to write down the words that most touched me – but the thought was this: whenever we experience a loss we have an opportunity to allow it to fall into the fertile soil of God’s wisdom and trust He can and will grow something beautiful from it, in time.
Right now I don’t know what kind of beauty will be born from the current loss I'm experiencing – but I have seen God redeem other past losses in my life and trust this latest thing, too, will ultimately spring forth a new kind of hope, one which can never die.
Is there a particular loss you are experiencing right now? Don’t be afraid to grieve. God never leaves our side. He can handle our pain, and actually wants us to enter in to it with Him so we can experience His healing.
Will you pray with me, that we would allow God to grow something beautiful from the losses in our lives?
He is endlessly creative, and one of His favorite things is to restore and make new. Right now our pain may overshadow such thoughts – but in time, we will have a song we would never have had the privilege of singing had we not first experienced a loss.

now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert..."

I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert..."

Thank you for sharing your heart, Ms Emily. I am old so I have experienced loss many times... some expected and others were not. It is such a blessing to look back and see God's faithfulness through it all. I don't fully understand the purpose in some losses but I will one day. Lifting you up to the Lord of heaven and earth. May you feel His loving arms wrap around you and may His peace wash over you! Ms Linda
Wow! You exactly wrote what I have often felt. Thank you for sharing!! No matter how hopeless things may seem now, it is comforting to know God has a plan in all and can use even the darkest circumstances to work His purpose.
Love and prayers!
