Broken Pieces

One loaf of bread doesn't feed many until it is broken.

I am thinking today of the miracle Jesus performed when He fed over five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish (Luke 9:10-17). And I am also thinking about Jesus' last night with His disciples when "He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you..." (Luke 22:19).

If I would follow in His steps... it means being broken. Jesus Himself was broken... broken for the sins of the whole world... broken for me. Had He not submitted to the will of His Father and been broken on the Cross at Calvary, His saving grace would not have been multiplied unto millions.

Jesus invited me to be broken by the Father over a year ago and I welcomed Him in. It's been hard. He's been "breaking me" through various emotional and physical trials. But I am learning to trust Him better in this process. He has said to me, "Sufficient for you is the Grace of Me" (2 Cor 12:9). And He often reminds me that, "I have walked this way Myself... I know what it feels like (Heb 4:15)... I am here to bear the yoke with you (Matt 11:28-30)."

When I wonder what will become of all my "broken pieces" Jesus tells me, "It isn't about the numbers. It's about doing the will of the Father. It's about trusting Him with the outcome. It's about glorifying Him. I still would have given Myself if you were the only person who would have received Me."

Be it one or millions, whatever the outcome, no broken pieces are ever wasted (Luke 9:17).
